About Us
Window Shopping is the San Francisco Bay Area’s premiere visual presentation company for the retail, entertainment, and special event markets. Owner and founder Janet J Cady continues to direct each project personally, ensuring the quality and attention to detail that have made Window Shopping a leading member of the Bay Area design Community.
Innovative marketing sets the tone for Window Shopping’s retail projects. Merchandising is not a one-size-fits-all proposition, and no company understands that better than Window Shopping. Janet has pioneered visual campaigns for retailers as diverse as Escada on Union Square, Alcatraz Enterprises, and small retail marketing units in malls throughout the bay area. In each instance, Janet deals directly with managers and owners to create a unique and arresting image.
Some of the Bay Area’s most prestigious locations have depended on Window Shopping for consistently stunning visual design. The Renaissance Stanford Court Hotel on Nob Hill hired Window Shopping to fashion its Christmas presentations. The American Conservatory Theater entrusted the display windows for its grand re-opening to Window Shopping. Window Shopping has designed fantasy windows for the S.P.C.A.’s Christmas Adopt-A-Pet drive on the Fifth Street Side of the San Francisco Shopping Center, and it decorated Centennial Hall for the Mayor’s Winter Wonderland Party in Hayward.
As a true indication of the company’s success in innovative design, San Mateo County government officials chose Window Shopping from over fifty local contenders to revitalize and redesign the window presentation at the State Capitol. Janet’s winning design featured two operating commuter trains, spinning propellers, and undulating waves, representing the county’s claims to fame in transportation and access.
Clearly, Janet’s experience in retail has allowed her to take Window Shopping into exciting new directions. The company has coordinated numerous special events in conjunction with the world-renowned Cirque du Soleil, San Francisco’s Opera Ballet companies, The San Francisco Book Lover’s Ball, Beach Blanket Babylon, the San Francisco Municipal Railway, and the Carousel Museum. The late San Francisco Chronicle columnist, Herb Caen took note of the Museum project, describing it as a rare and fantastic display of old-fashioned carousel horses.â€
